Restormel Castle

Restormel Castle

Cloudy Sunday and lovely walk around medieval castle in Cornwall.

Restormel Castle was build in very interesting shape-a shell-keep. A shell-keep is a circular construction built usually on top of the hill with the buildings arranged around the inside. And of course it was great experience to have a walk on the top of castle itself. Such a fantastic view!

This castle is one of the four chief Norman castles of Cornwall, the others being LauncestonTintagel and Trematon. I have already seen Tintagel castle earlier this year and a little story about it you can easily find in one of my previous posts :)
So two of four  - not too bad :D

And you know- it's notmassive but still impressive. The wall measures 38 metres (125 ft) in diameter and is up to 2.4 metres (7.9 ft) thick.

Castle was built at Restormel in around 1100 by the Norman Baldwin Fitz Turstin.

Anyway i'll just stop talking here and let you enjoy some views of this amazing place :)
